Frequently Asked Questions

Where are you located?

We do not have a brick and mortar location, we come to you!  Whether that's in your home, at a local library, in your child's daycare or school setting, or via teletherapy, let us take the travel out of going to therapy sessions!  We just ask that work spaces are quiet and free of distractions for the child.

Do you take insurance

Bagwell Speech Therapy is working to accept more insurance provides to make therapy more accessible.  Currently we accept insurance through Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan, Blue Care Network of Michigan, United Healthcare, Aetna, Michigan Medicaid and Meridian Medicaid.  We are in the process of becoming an in-network provider with McClaren in the very near future.  If your insurance does not cover speech therapy or we do not accept your form of insurance, we accept private forms of payment including check, debit/credit card, and HSA/FAS payments.  If we are not in-network with your insurance, we can provide you with a Superbill, a document that can be used to file for reimbursement directly with your insurance provider. Please refer to your health insurance plan to determine reimbursement eligibility.  If you have any questionsplease let us help you!

What communities do you serve?

Bagwell Speech Therapy currently provides therapy services to those living in and around the Rochester, MI area. (Rochester, Rochester Hills, Oakland Township, Bruce Township, Auburn Hills, Lake Orion, Romeo, Shelby Township, Washington Township, Bloomfield Hills, Troy).  If you live outside of this area but would still like to receive speech therapy from us, we do offer teletherapy services.

How long will my child need speech therapy?

This is always the million dollar question and we wish we could answer it but in reality how long your child will need speech therapy is all dependent on their progress.  Data is consistently collected and analyzed to make sure progress is continuous and goals remain as relevant as possible for your child.  There are also things you can do at home to promote growth outside of their sessions.  Be sure to talk with the speech therapist to get some ideas!

What does a typical session usually look like?

Session length and frequency is decided based on the individual child's needs, the results of the evaluation, and the proposed therapy plan.  The duration of a session is typically 30 or 45 minutes in length.  The suggested frequency of sessions will be determined based on the child's current needs and what your child can tolerate.  We strive to make each and every therapy session fun, engaging, and as beneficial to the child and family as we possibly can.  Sessions all begin with reviewing the child's goals that are being targeted that day and end with reviewing what was learned with the child and a brief consultation with the parents to help with home practice and carryover of the skills.

Would my child benefit from private speech therapy even though they already get therapy in school?

Many children participate in private speech therapy in addition to receiving speech therapy at school.  Private therapy can be more intensive and personalized whereas school-based therapy is often done in a group setting.  In addition to children who already get services at school, there are many children who would benefit from speech therapy but might not qualify for these services at the school level.  Bagwell Speech Therapy would love to help your child meet their goals and maximize their speech and language skills.
